Outsides

The outside of the compound was made of tall, whitewashed earthen walls, with only the dome of the roof showing. Jungle, desert and ocean were all nearby and all made the landscape appear to be picturesque, a vacation spot even.

The outside of the main building was also made of whitewashed earthen walls that rose high into the air. A few open windows were cut into the sides for light and palm trees dotted most of the land around the building. Behind was a large expanse of empty space and a four wooden huts to the left. Everything was in natural colors and painted white.

Fifteen soldiers, all with dark skin and hair off the face took turns patrolling. Eight males, seven females that wore camouflage jumpers and carried assault weapons. The fifteen of them looked the same while patrolling.

All of this was observed by a little girl and an older woman.

"Watch." The woman said "Watch, and see what you will become. Learn. Obey."

Hours

"We are going to hunt" said Ori, one morning before the sun rose. Janie jumped out of bed and started to pull her shoes on when Ori put a gentle hand on her shoulder. "You will stay here."

"May I please go with you"

"No. You will have hours alone here. I am sure you will keep yourself occupied."

"Hours?" she asked, amazed. She'd never had that much playtime before. The order to g back to bed was heeded, and when she was awake she checked for any adults

NONE were around anywhere, and wouldn't be back until sunset. The child immediately ran through the building, shrieking and dancing, and having fun. Next, came food. She could eat all she wanted and that included the sweets.

The child gorged herself and was soon passed out with her head on the table and hand around a tin of chocolate.

"Janie, wake up. It's been hours" the little girl looked around the dark room, disappointed. Her free day had all gone to waste.
