Bed Rest (Open RP.)

Normally, staying in one spot for too long would make Janie restless. For the past week or so, however, she barely got out of bed. There was a walk twice a day, and a shower. The rest of the time was spent sleeping or chatting with a friend.

The events of that evening still went through her mind, and she was sure no one else had forgotten either. She knew Ian hadn't forgotten. Today she slept fitfully, asking for Ian or Kelly whenever she woke. Those two meant so much to her- she had to make sure they were safe.

The stitches bothered her, and she wanted another dose of pain killers, when she realized someone else was in the room with her. After a moment of confusion she plastered a smile on her face and tried to set aside the thoughts that were still in her head.

"Hi..."

"Hey, hey, looks like you're doin' all right," Robert said. He'd quietly crept into the room while Janie was napping, and was sitting in the chair beside the bed when she woke up. "How're you feeling? Getting your strength back some?"

"Daddy? I'm feeling a little better." She paused. "How is Mother?"

"She's ... well, let's just say, a hundred and twenty years from now, she'll be just fine. She's in a clinic in Kingston, undergoing regenerative therapy. She'll be good as new. How are you? I haven't seen Dr Malcolm yet, but he's here too, isn't he?" Robert handed Janie a small box of chocolates. The brand was unfamiliar, but they looked pretty upscale.

She examined the chocolates, but didn't open them. "Thank you."

Janie sighed, and felt guilty yet again. "Did you get hurt?"

"No ... I got real lucky. I think they were too busy dodging to spend much time shooting at me," Robert said. "Got a few of them, though."

"I knew all of them" She spoke quietly "Tayo was the one who shot me. I think I killed him. I've never done that before."

"I think your boyfriend was new to it, as well," Robert said quietly. "But you had to, and you did. And now, you won't have to worry about them coming after you again. I did not see what happened to Ori, but I did see who went after her. I'm sure he's playing golf with her head, right about now."

"Fiancé." she corrected "Ori is in a jar. She can't get out."

"A jar ... I like that. Yes, fiance, and now you can go back to getting married and having a future."

"Is it really over?"

"I think so. I've had a look at things over the next few decades and it seems pretty free of her influence."

She laid back, and looked relieved, for just a moment. "That means your family is safe, doesn't it?"

Robert smiled. "Yes, including you."

"You have another family."

"Yes, but you're still my family."

She smiled just a little.

"And I'm sorry I was away for so long," he added quietly. "Time gets away from you, when you have lots of it."

"Will I see you more?" she asked "Please?"

"Yes," Robert said simply, and smiled. "Yes, I would like that. I'll bring your stepmother and brothers and sister around, if you'd like to meet them, as well."

"Yes. I want to meet them." She seemed surprise. "I'd like that, a lot."

"I wasn't sure you wanted to, you've got plenty going on with your own life," Robert said. "But now that I know ... sure, that'd be great. They want to meet you, too."

She gave him a small smile.

Robert reached over an patted a non-bruised section of her arm. "Glad things turned out as well as they did."
