From Mag

Post five pictures from your childhood
The catch?
All five pictures must be:
+From different years
+Still be representative of who you are now
+Explained as to why they still represent you

Only two from my childhood survived... make of them what you will.

This first picture, I'm obviously listening to what someone is saying. I still tilt my head like that when I'm listening. I don't like sitting still for pictures.

The second picture was a family portrait with the Potts. They were my family in Florida. The little boy is Franklin, the lady is Sarah and the man Alonzo. Can you see my boredom in that picture? I like leaning on things, and I remember the man told me to sit up for the picture. I didn't sit up obviously.

Both then and now I didn't like sitting around dressed up. I didn't like taking pictures.

For comparison, here is a copy of a picture I took for Ian. I left it with him when Tutu kicked me out of his room for the evening.

I found the picture after you left. Thank you. I don't think I have any pictures of myself before I went to college.

You're welcome. Do you like it?

...I'm lucky I was able to hold on to those two.

It's a reasonable stand in.

My mom has some but we don't talk.

When the nursing shift changes, I'll be back.

I don't talk to mine either.

I'll try to be awake. The antibiotics are making me tired.

Does it bother you?

If you're not awake, I'll read.

Sometimes it does.

You can wake me up.

It used to bother me.

[identity profile] a-mind-flip.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
I will.

...What changed, if I may ask?

[identity profile] a-mind-flip.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
...I'm sorry to hear that. You've done a lot, things I think family would be proud of.

I was still a student when they disowned me.

[identity profile] a-mind-flip.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Why? You had to be one of the smartest students in college?

[identity profile] malcolmeffect.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Several reasons. I stopped practicing Judaism and married outside the community. They didn't approve of either decision.

[identity profile] a-mind-flip.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad it doesn't bother you anymore.

[identity profile] malcolmeffect.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
I can't do anything to change what they've decided.

[identity profile] a-mind-flip.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
That's true.

I don't think mine have any interest or time for me. I can't do anything about that.

[identity profile] malcolmeffect.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It's their loss to not want you around.

[identity profile] a-mind-flip.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you.
