Day 7 - Days

Last week, the pretty young blond had been in the hospital.  There had been something deadly wrong with her and loved ones visited all day and night.  An older brunette knew what really happened, however.  She spent her time in the shadows, watching and waiting for someone to reveal her secret.

It nearly happened a few times but in the end no one suspected the truth.

That may have been because the police commissioner was going through a divorce, his child was acting out and his wife led a secret double life.

Days.  Janie somehow got herself hooked on the soap opera.  Someone new happened to be in the hospital this week, and she couldn't miss the paternity test!  The results would be fake as usual but watching the show?  Mandatory.  Every weekday at the same hour the familiar music played and her screen got filled with an hourglass.

Then the good stuff happened.  Days went best with a big drink and a nice snack, and quiet.  The quiet happened to be one of the best parts.  That happened to be the reason that Janie ignored the phone, and then the comm.  TWO minutes left in the episode, two minutes  She wanted to catch the last cliffhanger, watch the previews for the next episode.

You don't mess with Days.  Not while she watches.

Xander flopped into the seat next to her, handing her a sandwich. "So, who's in the hospital this week?"

"So is the blonde girl still angsting about the baby she put up for adoption, or is she angsting about something new?"

" ... that's an overabundance of blonde hookers," Xander said eventually. "And does anybody ever successfully keep a secret on this show?"

"You're asking me?" Xander said, sipping his cola and unwrapping his sub. "I didn't even know that Blonde Chick A was gone. And ... umm ... I gotta ask ... which of these folks do you label as the bad ... Oh, never mind, I see what you mean. How did she even get this job, anyway?"
