You wanna talk to Maeridia about that. She quit and sat in a cave for two hundred years.

Uhh.. *Mutters something about matching socks. Which is a small thing, but a beautiful one*

A cave? Sounds like it was a nice break... *can't be considering that, can she?*

The sandals weren't that bad. *yep, still has them, but mentioning matching socks brings the smallest of smiles to her face*

In all fairness, it's a very nice cave.

In November? *Phoenix's eyes twinkle a bit, as he takes the list and adds 11) New shoes. And 12) Ducklings.*

Staying for 200 years, I'd imagine so. It's not a bad idea.

*she watches him* Ducklings?

Mmmh-Yeahhh. Just a personal favourite. *And. For Janie, and Janie ONLY, he summons one. Lo and behold the tiny, adorable fuzzy little duckling in the palm of his hand*

You tell anyone about this? I'll hunt you down and kill you.

*The duckling is just too cute, and Janie's demeanor changes. Now she's oohing and awwing, talking in a tiny voice to the duckling in Phoenix's hand. She even pets it gently once or twice*

*Is that a big dorky grin on the dark angel's face? So much for the rep*

Go on.. *He attempts to tip the little thing onto Janie's palm. The urge to start cooing at it is almost unbearable* Hold him, he's far too young to be scared of.. well. Anything much.

*it's okay. Janie is now holding the duckling in her palm, cooing and absolutely in love with the tiny creature*

He's so cute...

*Thus far, Janie has a smile on her face, and the prospect of a tranquil and beautiful retreat should she need it. Phoenix seems to be doing okay*

Just a tiny little bit of what's really quite a beautiful universe. *D'awwwww. No. He's NOT gonna start ...*

It's hard to see things like this when your sole focus is on rescuing and killing.

*But she's still talking in a little voice for the duck,and yes, Phoenix gets those rare smiles from her*

That's why you gotta step back and take a fresh look once in a while.

*He grins back at her, delighted to see that smile, whilst the duckling settles in Janie's hand and fluffs its ridiculous little wings*

I can't say I don't have the time.

*oohing and aahing at the cuteness of the dig fluffing his wings, and acting likes he's right at home*

Yeah.. well. One baby critter's not gonna make it all better... but there's a time to throw yourself into your work, or whatever, and there's a time to rediscover what you're working for.

He... really likes you. *Cue idiot grin again*

When I was younger, I loved animals. *dawww, the duckling is distracting her from anything that will make her distracted*

*He grins* I'm not saying you're championing the cause of ducklings or anything. But kind of. Yeah.

*Phoenix plants a kiss on Janie's temple, not minding the distraction from being distracted.. that's the whole point, that Janie loses herself completely in something else, even if only for a few minutes*

*theres that smile again! Somehow there's no awkwardness, and even a hug with her free arm*

*Phoenix is inwardly delighted, though he's playing it cool. Not being sure how Janie would react to a worm.. considering the tentacle thing... Phoenix summons a lump of soft bread, giving it to Janie to feed the little guy*

There you go.. spoil him rotten for a bit.

*Of course itty bitty is gonna have to go back to where he came from after a while*

*and she feeds him! Baby animals should go on the list of 'things that make Janie happy'*

Just for a bit... He must miss his mommy. *she doesn't want him to go back*
