Housewarming Party (open RP)

Today was her housewarming. Janie checked over everything several times to make sure it was all ready.

The house was completely spotless. She'd scrubbed every corner and made sure it was nice and clean for anyone who came by. Every picture on the wall was straight and the furniture all looked picture perfect. She had lots of snacks prepared and a few activities so people wouldn't get bored. Later, there would be a nice dinner.

She wasn't sure where Ian or Kelly were, but as long as they weren't making messes, it didn't matter at the moment.  Everything had to be perfect for the party.

"I'm great!" Janie smiled, and stepped aside for her friend. "You need to meet Ian and Kelly. Lex is here too."

John was running a little late because he had just got in that morning with Tim. Tim was like traveling with a ping pong ball. He did however make it to his driver and finally to Ian's new home.

Tim ran for the door shouting for "Uncle Ian" and leaving Hammond well behind. The boy would open the door and rush in if it wasn't locked.

I already told Maddy. I'll be traveling often enough that I can take an extra passenger sometimes.

Instead of Ian, Janie answered the door, and smiled at her new guests.

"Hello! Come in, please."

Tim pushed right past her to get to Ian. Hammond came up with a smile.

I'm afraid the boy is more eager to see Dr. Malcolm than anyone else. How are you?

John gave her a hug before she could protest.

Dr. Malcolm spoils my grandchild far too much. He spoke with an annoyed yet happy tone.

I've brought you some gifts but I'm afraid one will not arrive until tomorrow. There has been a delay in shipping I'm afraid.

Ian looked up from the two conversations he was having with the girls. Kelly was talking about her next competition and Lex was still trying to get him to give up his Tetris secrets. He managed to field both of them pretty well.

Hello. Ian smiled at the new guest despite Kelly pulling on his arm for attention.

John offered her a box he'd been carrying.

"Hi! I said I'd be here!" She walked in past Janie and had a look around. It felt warm and homely. "This is for you." She holds out the gift bag to her. It contains a framed photograph of the Brooklyn Bridge at night, a New York snow globe and an 'I ♥ New York' t-shirt.

Well, it took some epic Mapquesting and a whole lot of crossing her fingers (which she didn't recommend while driving), but Saxsice had made it there in mostly one piece without hurting anything (she was pretty sure that bush hadn't REALLY wanted to be that close to the road).

Hopping out of the car, she gave her hair a quick smooth, then made her way up to the door to knock.

"Saxsice!" Janie grinned after she opened the door. "I'm so glad you made it! Thank you!"

Janie looked into the bag, and smiled. "Thank you! This will remind me of New York!"

"Hi!" Nica said, offering a hand. "I'm Nica, you must be the groom? Dr. Malcolm? My cousin gave me your book. I'm still workin' on it."

Grinning as well, very proud of herself, Saxsice replied, "Course I made it. Wouldn't miss it."

She blushed slightly. "You're welcome. I know it's not much, but I didn't know what you already had and I'm not very good at shopping... So, I thought you should have something of New York with you." She looked around at her home again. "This is really nice!"

Ian shook her hand. Yes, I'm Ian Malcolm.

He smiled motioning to the girls. My daughter Kelly and her friend Lex.

Lex boldly stuck out her hand to have it shook too bt Kelly did not.
