Today was her housewarming. Janie checked over everything several times to make sure it was all ready.

The house was completely spotless. She'd scrubbed every corner and made sure it was nice and clean for anyone who came by. Every picture on the wall was straight and the furniture all looked picture perfect. She had lots of snacks prepared and a few activities so people wouldn't get bored. Later, there would be a nice dinner.

She wasn't sure where Ian or Kelly were, but as long as they weren't making messes, it didn't matter at the moment.  Everything had to be perfect for the party.

I'm doing great. She smiled

I know Ian is glad to see him. She hugged him back, happily

Dr. Malcolm spoils my grandchild far too much. He spoke with an annoyed yet happy tone.

I've brought you some gifts but I'm afraid one will not arrive until tomorrow. There has been a delay in shipping I'm afraid.

I don't care about the presents John, I'm glad all of you could make it.

Well, I brought them anyway. John smiled. And this one is the most important.

John offered her a box he'd been carrying.

Thank you. She took the box, and got a big smile when she saw what was inside.

These are beautiful!

I bought it for Alice... oh.. I think it was our first anniversary. John continued smiling but there was a little sadness to it. She loved to wear it. When I heard Ian talking about you I knew this would be the perfect piece for you to wear.

It's my favorite color, and it has a butterfly. You were right. It's absolutely perfect. I'm sure she was a wonderful lady.

Yes, it will look stunning with a wedding gown. John tried to smile but it was fading. He dearly missed his wife. She was a very proud woman with a devil of a temper but there was no kinder or more beautiful woman to be found.
