RP for Xander or whoever

Lynn looked at the short list of names, and called each of them, only to get an answering service.

Why wasn't anyone home?  She looked towards the bedroom door, knowing her mother was crouched over in the bed.  'Don't call anyone' she'd said.

She tried once more to call everyone, when finally she got an answer.

"Hello?  You have to come here, now!"

"Um ... Lynn? What's wrong?"

"Dad?" This was the first time she'd called him that. "It's Mommy. She's not feeling well and you have to be here now! Sorry for calling you at work."

"Not feeling well, how?" Xander was already on his way to the car.

"Her stomach is bothering her. It hurts and then it doesn't but she told me not to call you cause she said she's fine." Lynn sounded worried. "And nobody was home, anywhere and you didn't answer when I called you earlier."

There was some background noise, and Lynn could be heard saying 'I'm ordering pizza!'.

"Are you gonna be here soon?"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm getting in the car right now. Anything I could get that might help?"

"No, I - um. Lied and said I didn't call you. can you make sure I don't get grounded?"

"I'll do what I can," Xander said. "But she might wonder why I'm home so early."

"She's feeling really bad so she won't care at first, but when she's better she might get mad"

"Okay, that'll give us time to think of a cover story. Hanging up now, gotta drive."

"Kay." Lynn hung up, and scampered off to try to make Janie feel better.

By the time Xander got there, both of them would be in the master bedroom, the little girl trying her hardest to play nurse.

"Hey, hi, what's going on?" Xander asked. "Janie, what's going on? Are you okay?"

"...I think it's time." Janie said, through gritted teeth, glaring at Lynn for a second. "Did she call you? I told her not to call anyone. I'm fine!"

"Time for what?" Xander asked, confused. "No, I finished early, I can't do anything until the rest of the foundation's in. And you look really, really ... not fine."

Janie threw a pillow at Xander, then curled up on the bed, trying her hardest not to make any noise.

"Time for ... oh. Oh! Umm ... shouldn't we be, like, on our way to the hospital or something?"

He glanced at Lynn, who was not only taking care of her mom, but causing her all of this discomfort in the first place. Time travel was fun.

Janie said something under her breath and threw another pillow. Lynn, however, stood back and looked very worried.

"What's happening?"

"You're about to be born, I think," Xander said to Lynn.

"It's not my birthday." Lynn pointed out "MY birthday is in October"

Xander frowned. "Well then ... umm ... "

He suddenly realized why Janie was throwing pillows at him.

"Honey? You want a Tylenol or something?"

"I'm fine. Get me the car keys and shove that tyleno- owww" She stopped ranting for a moment to curl up in pain again. And there weren't any more pillows to throw.

"I'm terrified to know what you would want to do with the car keys right now," Xander said, "and if it would involve driving, I'm going to go with, 'No.'"

It took a minute for Janie to answer him. "Either I call Phoenix, or I'm getting to the hospital. Your choice."

She held out her hand for the keys. Lynn almost spoke up, but didn't when she saw Janie's mood. Phoenix wasn't even home.

"I'll get you to the hospital, but you're not driving," Xander said. "Okay, let's go ... "

"Can I drive?" asked Lynn, grabbing the duffel bag that had been packed for weeks.

Janie got up, and started making it to the car,

"No, I think I've got that part covered," Xander said. "But thanks for the offer. Ask again when you're sixteen."
