RP for Xander or whoever

Lynn looked at the short list of names, and called each of them, only to get an answering service.

Why wasn't anyone home?  She looked towards the bedroom door, knowing her mother was crouched over in the bed.  'Don't call anyone' she'd said.

She tried once more to call everyone, when finally she got an answer.

"Hello?  You have to come here, now!"

Xander looked at the sonogram image. "Don't know, that kind of looks like a ... yeah, it's a boy."

Janie was half asleep by that point, so she didn't see Lynn pouting and getting ready to have a tantrum.

The tech handed Xander copies of the pictures and hightailed it out of there before the drama started.

"My best guess," Xander said after the tech was gone, "is this is not you. And that you're about to become a big sister."

"I don't want to be a big sister!" Lynn frowned, then looked at her Mom

"When was I born if that's not me?"

"Sometime in October?" Xander guessed.

"October 9th" frowned the little girl "But that's supposed to be me, and if it's not then I shouldn't be here"

"But she's already had you, so ... this is someone else," Xander said. "And if you weren't supposed to be here, you wouldn't be."

"She doesn't remember having me." admits Lynn "Which means I'm a paradox."

"A very nice one," Xander said.

"What if she's done with me?" asked Lynn "Because you and her have the baby now?"

Janie was smiling at Lynn and Xander, and didn't seem to be done with either of them.

"She's not," Xander said, and smiled. "And I'm sure as heck not done with you. I'm sure I have to ground you at least a few more times, and maybe even take away your car privileges once or twice."

"You can't do that if I disappear." and she pouted "But at least you and Mommy will have a kid."

"One of two," Xander said. "You're not going anywhere, really."

"What if I'm not really yours or Mommy's kid? Phoenix said you were my father the other day and that I had to be nicer to you, but what if I'm a changeling or something?"

"You're not weird enough to be a changeling," Xander said. "Weird, yes, but not noticeably weirder then your mom or me."

Lynn hugged Xander just as the doctor walked in. Janie was still out of it.

Xander hugged her back. "Don't ever let yourself believe you're not part of this family, hon," he said, bending down to her ear.

She nodded, and kept her arms around Xander so he could pick her up.

"Is Mommy and my brother going to be okay?"

The doctor explained just what Xander thought he would, that everything would be okay.

"See? Nothing to worry about," Xander said Lynn after the doctor left again.

Lynn smiled, and sat back in her seat as she waited for her mother to wake up, so they could all go back home.

In just a few minutes, everything went into a downward spiral. Janie started writhing in pain, and suddenly, Phoenix was beside her. The two of them seemed to have a very private conversation, with him reassuring her of something.

A second later, a nurse rushed in and checked Janie. She called the doctor back, and a crowd followed him into the room.

"The baby is coming now" said a nurse "We need to get her out of here" she pointed to Lynn

ooc: Phoenix mun is on hiatus, but wouldn't have missed this for the world, so with permission of the mun, it's being handwaved that he was there for it all.

"Uh ... Lynn?" Xander said. "It looks like you'll be a big sister very, very soon. Go to the waiting room, I'll check on you when I'm able to. Okay?"

Lynn nodded, with wide eyes, and rushed out of the room. She hadn't seen this coming at all.

Janie called out for Xander grabbing his hand and not letting go for the entire process which we won't go through, sorry.

"And ... we have a son," Xander said, when it was a true statement to make. "We have a son ... "

"We... have a son" she repeated. "We- This happened too fast. I thought we had more time. The nursery isn't ready yet."

"Not to mention, I have no idea what to call the little bugger."
