[Janie looks back at Julian for a moment, before standing on her toes, and attempting to kiss him on the cheek]

[...And also, a little ways away on the beach, a mysterious table full of tools falls from the sky and crashes to the ground]

[Julian smiles, thankful that he obviously didn't scare Janie off with his monologue. He is about to give her a heartfelt hug when he hears the crashing sound and looks around.]

What was that?

....It's my work table. There was an accident a while ago and I kind of lost it.

[She looks embarrassed ]

[He blinks and eyes Janie for a moment, then indeed hugs her, grinning.]

Okay. Shall we go and get it before it disappears again?

[Janie hugs Julian too, and laughs]

Yes, lets go over there and get it. What an odd time for that to happen.

Yeah, but it's an odd thing to happen, too, so I guess it's fitting.

[He grins and walks over to the place where the table has crashed.]

Haha, you're right.

[She follows him. The table doesn't look heavy, but is covered in bits and pieces of small gadgets]

Let's move this, and then we'll have drinks?

Alright, let's do this.

[Julian inspects the table and can't resist poking at one or two gadgets to see if they're real.]

Are these broken?

They're not broken. [Janie picks one up]

I'm making new things with them... so I guess they are broken, but I am the one that broke them.

[lostinthefog]

I see ... well, then let's get them back onto the boat so you won't run out of things to create.

[He tries to lift the table, careful not to let anything slide off its surface.]

[Everything stays on the table as Janie helps him move it.]

Thank you... I'm sorry this is interrupting our um. Whatever this is.

[Julian tries to keep the table steady while they are carrying it back to the boat.]

You don't have to be sorry. While it's bizarre, it's certainly something I don't see every day. Or with anyone else.
And ... whatever it is, we can always get back to it later.

You always seem level-headed, throughout all the insanity that inevitably happens around me.

[Janie smiles, and helps him successfully load the table onto the boat]

I'm learning. I used to freak out because of things like this; but I've seen so many weird things since that this almost feels normal. It still gives me a headache if I start thinking too much about it, but it's not dangerous, not threatening ... no reason to get upset about.

[He grins and pats the table once it's on the boat.]

Let's hope it'll remain here now. Drinks?

I still freak out sometimes... Oh, it should stay in place until we get home. Thanks for helping me with it.

Yes, drinks. Can we go back to the beach?

You're welcome. As long as its only a table, not the engine or something ...

[Julian smiles and nods, gathers some bottles and looks for a blanket.]

Sure. It's nice out there. Let's have an, uh, alcoholic picnic.

No, no, the engine won't come out. It wouldn't do that to me.

[Janie snags a blanket]

It's safe enough here to do that. We'll have a great time.

Hah. Here's to a trustworthy engine.

[He grins and raises the bottle in a toast.]

I'm having a great time already. It's ... I haven't felt so safe and comfortable in a long time.

[Janie smiles, and touches a bottle to Julian's, then taking a quick drink]

I'm glad, Julian. You deserve it. [Janie heads out of the boat and spreads the blanket on the sand]

I think we both deserve it.

[Julian drinks as well, then helps Janie spreading the blanket. When its done, he flops down onto it, looking happily up into the sky.]

You've no idea how much I missed this ...

[Janie sits on the blanket next to Julian, and stares out at the water]

Missed what? Picnics? Hanging out?

All of it. Picnics under a starry sky, at a beach, with someone I like a lot.

[He looks up at Janie.]

Everything alright?

I like watching the water... It's calming somehow. Everything is fine, even better than fine because you're someone that I like a lot, and this night has almost been perfect.

[lostinthefog]

[He nods, smiling, understanding perfectly well how calming the water can be.]

What would have to happen to make it truly perfect?

[Janie finally lays back and looks up at the stars]

It doesn't really matter, because I don't think I want to change a thing right now. I just want to be here... because getting up would kill the moment.
