The little girl and boy weaved in between adults as they played a game that seemed a lot like tag.

"NO TAG BACKS!"  Screamed the girl before nearly running into Janie.  The boy followed soon after, both of the children chasing each other in circles around the lobby.  Their laughter caused the woman to smile as she thought of the dreams she still had of family and of the family her alternate would have.

An older gentleman sat on a bench, reading through a paper and the woman behind the desk checked couples in and out.  Today wasn't busy, but at this hour the hotel was bustling with activity.

She moved to block the little boy, just to give the girl a headstart when she felt the warmth of her scanner against her leg.  Pulling the device out she frowned then frowned again at the screen.

Explosives.  Shit.  She needed to disarm whatever it was.

36) In the event an incendiary device is detected, clear all civilians from a hundred foot radius of said device

"EVERYONE LEAVE!"  No one payed attention, they continued to go about their business.  "The fat guy has a bomb!"

There were two or three overweight people in the room, only one looked over at her in confusion.  It was enough and people started to scream.  Janie looked at the device and ran for the basement.

The bomb was tiny, attached to a bit of wall.  Not even a flashing light gave it away.

37) Upon securing the perimeter, allow the agency scanning unit to collect an image of the device.

That tennis ball sized bomb was enough to blow the hotel into matchsticks.  If allowed to go off, there'd be no survivors.  Phoenix would be okay, she'd be...  eventually okay.  The humans would all die, unless they exited when she told them to.  Her scanning unit would disarm in just a few seconds.

No.  It flashed for her to get away immediately.  All the people in the hotel, but there wasn't time to save them.  The bomb would go off in...  3...2...1.

---------------------------------------

She found herself in a cold and tiny windowless room.  When she tried to teleport out she found that she couldn't.

The rules slipped out of her head when she saw who was in the room with her.  Her weapons wouldn't kill him and anyone else would have given up.  This woman decided to fight.  It was all that was left.  The actions proved to be fruitless as she was soon held against the wall with a sharp blade pointed at her throat.

"You can't kill me."  She spat defiantly at Vahl and waited for pain, or an assault to come.  The smile that came from her attacker was bone-chilling at the least and soon was followed by a series of assaults and beatings.  There were other attacks, seemingly never ending.  At first she fought back, but eventually she would be left in a sobbing heap on the floor, holding tatters of clothing against her injured body.  There was no escape from the room and she'd been told that this was her home for eternity, and then, Vahl left her.

One of her greatest fears was to be trapped with no hope of release.  That's what this room was, there was no sun, no air, no food, no contact.  Janie would stop crying long enough to try to escape, only to give up and collaspe to the floor again in tears.

Eventually, she felt a bit of warmth and light.  Looking up, there was the hope of release and the threat of more punishment, but most importantly there was the hope of seeing the sun again.
