( Janie at Sixteen )
"Admiral Malcolm, the head of the agency requests your presence in a series of meetings. She asks that you arrive by 1200."
Janie stared blankly at the six officers that managed to make it into her hotel room. This wasn't supposed to happen- they couldn't find her yet, not when everything was going to get better any day now.
"I quit."
"If you do not arrive at the meeting, our Head will arrange for transport-"
"No." She'd been drinking before they came, and the situation was not making any sense to her. "I've got to work tomorrow."
"We were ordered not to leave without you."
The still intoxicated Time Traveler downed the rest of whatever was in her glass, something strong and brown, and made no move to get up. Muttering to herself, and shaking her head, Janie realizes that the glass bottle on the bedside table was empty.
Then, the room went black for several seconds.
When the lights were back on, the officers were gone and the bottle was full once more. The television was now blaring, and newscasters discussed unexpected power outages across the city.

![]() At your best, you are brave, intense, and fearless. You have guts. You have no problem standing up for what's right and asserting yourself. You'll fight for what you believe in. You face the abyss head on, an you challenge your friends to do the same. You have the guts to be who you are. You believe that you are important and special. |
"Are you leaving again?" asked the voice of a thirteen year old girl. Janie turned her head, away from the beaten up duffel bag, and to the irritated teenager.
( Cut for potentially being disturbing )RL has dumped a ton of BS on me over the past few months. I'm aware I dropped many, many threads, and I am sorry for that. I have no idea when things will get better, but honestly RP is one of the happy distractions.
I am not dumping threads on purpose, or ignoring anyone and if you really want the details of my life I'll give some to you.
Feel free to remind me about things I drop, or plots that I'm screwing up. Sorry again, guys.

Sometimes, the past catches up with you when you least expect it, and that's what happened that day at Janie's cheap hotel room. An Agency vehicle was outside, and she knew what was inside.
So, she ran, and kept running until she realized she was at Phoenix's door. All Janie could do was knock.

Going to New York.
Aug. 3rd, 2011 02:59 pmInstead of suffering through nightmares, some nights Janie would spend curled up in bed, working on physics formulas. It's what made everything make sense. Tonight was one of those nights, and she was lost in the world of her sheets, paper and the soft scratching of a pencil, the world reduced to symbols on a piece of white note paper.
It had to be alright, if only she could escape. So, without a word, she packed a small bag and went to New York City, where she could drink away the pain and loss in anonymity.
She didn't plan on Lynn following her.
Her daughter stood in front of her bed, staring silently. Janie gathered the papers, and set them on the night stand, before moving aside and patting the spot next to her in bed. Lynn jumped in and immediately snuggled against her mother. The two lay awake for a bit, not speaking to each other, until they both drifted off to sleep.
---
When Janie received the letter, she read it once, twice, and her heart sank. They were gone. Those who treated her like family, like the extended family she never had and always wanted. The world that was like a second home- in the process of being destroyed. They were immortal, this wasn't supposed to happen. She didn't know how to react, what to do. How to help Phoenix, who she was sure needed support.
Her reaction was to run.
Lynn stopped her, and tried to convince her to stick nearby for Phoenix, for Sam, because they all needed to be together. Janie tried to stay, but the thoughts of losing family yet again became too much, and all she wanted to do was drink. Phoenix, Sam and Lynn would be okay together, Janie knew they would. Her father would pick up Lynn and everything would be alright.
