A strangely refreshed Janie knocked on Xander's door three times, ready to go with him, and kill things.

It had been quite a while for her, but only eight hours for Xander since she'd trained him on the two weapons.  The two of them could do anything if they were together, couldn't they?

She waited patiently, nodding politely to a neighbor.

"What? Yeah, I'm fine, it's nothing," he said, looking at the blood on his hand.

"You're bleeding." She calmly twisted the handle of the weapon several times. "That asswipe made you bleed."

"Hey, I've had worse," Xander said. "Uh ... " He followed along, doing the same thing with his weapon that Janie was doing with hers.

"So've I, but I'm sick of my friends and family getting hurt and killed"

With that, Janie aimed the weapon at the Qulat and fired. She repeated it three times in different locations.

Xander watched three explosives blossom into red flame.

He hesitated only long enough to nod and say, "Yeah," before he launched a few grenades at the fortress, as well.

Janie kept reloading and firing, clearly not intending to stop. She didn't seem to run out of grenades.

There didn't seem to be much less of the fortress, a few minutes later. "I'm guessing your people don't have much use for things like tanks and bombers," he said.

"Most of the people that used those are dead." Janie continued firing.

"I can see why," Xander said. "And if I ever start pissing you off, please feel free to remind me of this so that I'll stop."

"I love you with all my heart and soul. That won't happen."

She smiled over at Xander, before firing even more grenades.

Xander watched as Janie reduced the fortress to a few lumps of rock in a sea of melted glass.

"Good to know. Very, very good to know."

She fired at it a few more times for good measure, then let her weapon drop to the ground.

"Thank you"

Xander did a doubletake. "Thank me? Why?"

"For ... you. You're wonderful to me."

"I try. Glad I succeed."

"Did I scare you? I scared me."

"A little," Xander admitted.

"Everyone in there is dead, aren't they?"

" ... unless they're fireproof," Xander said.

"I'm sorry... I didn't plan this."

"It just kind of happened ... Weren't we supposed to go somewhere else?"

"Yes. I don't know how we got here."

"So, are things going to be safer, now? For you?"

She nodded, staring at what was left.

" ... good. Then this was worth it."
