Housewarming Party (open RP)

Today was her housewarming. Janie checked over everything several times to make sure it was all ready.

The house was completely spotless. She'd scrubbed every corner and made sure it was nice and clean for anyone who came by. Every picture on the wall was straight and the furniture all looked picture perfect. She had lots of snacks prepared and a few activities so people wouldn't get bored. Later, there would be a nice dinner.

She wasn't sure where Ian or Kelly were, but as long as they weren't making messes, it didn't matter at the moment.  Everything had to be perfect for the party.

"I'd love to hear about it sometime, yeah, definitely. So, are you getting excited about the wedding?"

Ian shooed the two girls off to get something to eat.

I leave all the excitement to Ja'nee.

"I'm sure it'll be a good time. She's definitely one of a kind, isn't she?"

She is something else. Ian grinned. He really loved Ja'nee.

"So, got a honeymoon planned out yet?"

No.. uh.. I've been thinking about a trip to Europe.

"Europe's goon," Nica agreed. "I'm helping Janie with the wedding, but if there's anything you need me to help you with, just let me know. Okay?"

Uh.... Goon? Ian looked rather confused. I can handle a wedding. I'm an unfortunate pro.

Nica cleared her throat. " ... good," she said. "I swear, I haven't even been drinking, yet."

Can I get you something to drink? Ian mentally kicked himself for forgetting his manners.

"Yes, please," Nica said before the words had completely passed his lips. "Apple martinin if you have the makings for it, or just a regular martini if you don't."

Gin or vodka martini? Ian asked as he tried to remember what he had.

"Vodka's fine," Nica said.

I'm not sure we have the ingredients for an appletini but I could make a pineapple martini. Ian started, slowly for the kitchen.

"Ooh! That sounds really good," Nica said.

Will you get the vodka? I think Ja'nee took it into the living room. Ian started getting out what he would need to make the martini.

Nica took a look around and located a nearly-full fifth of Stolichnaya. It was next to a bottle of scotch.

"Here we go ... You even have the good stuff, cool."

Ian got out one of their black martini glasses. It was on the counter chilling while he got out the olives.

Do you take your martinis dirty? ian asked it before he realized how it sounded.chucling he opened the shaker to add ice.

"The dirtier, the better," Nica said without batting an eyelash. "You have a decent liquor cabinet. I like that in a person."

Ian was about to pour in the olive juice when he paused., Uh.. you wanted a pineapple martini?

He set the jar down and smiled. If I am going to destroy my liver, I pride myself in doing it with only the best.

"You know, salt an pineapple go all right together, but pineapple and olive juice? Maybe not so much. Looks great, as-is."

Ian made a bit of a face at the idea of pineapple and salt. Ian went back to making the usual dirty vodka martini.

Your next one can be pineapple.

"No, seriously!" Nica said. "In Mexico, a lot fo the taco stands sell these fruit cups for dessert ... cut-up mango, coconut, pineapple ... dusted with salt and chili powder. It sounds nasty, but it works."

I like my pineapple unadulterated. Ian smiled and poured in the vodka and started shaking the martini.
