Housewarming Party (open RP)

Today was her housewarming. Janie checked over everything several times to make sure it was all ready.

The house was completely spotless. She'd scrubbed every corner and made sure it was nice and clean for anyone who came by. Every picture on the wall was straight and the furniture all looked picture perfect. She had lots of snacks prepared and a few activities so people wouldn't get bored. Later, there would be a nice dinner.

She wasn't sure where Ian or Kelly were, but as long as they weren't making messes, it didn't matter at the moment.  Everything had to be perfect for the party.

I want... Ian smiled but the words stuck "grow old" was about to come out but he realized that might upset Ja'nee. Quickly he changed what he was going to say. ..uh.. you to be different. I don't waht to just think I'll have it with you.

Ian sighed realizing he'd totally said something he didn't mean. Uh.... not you.. I meant the relationship we have compared to the rest in my life.

This will be different. We're going to be together for a lifetime.

Ian sighed. I wish it could be your lifetime.

Ella's words were haunting him. He was going to die in what would be a blink for Ja'nee. Though he would never leave her it didn't seem fair somehow.

Ian choose not to say anything. The only words that came to mind were "Not as sorry as I am." but he choose not to voice them.

Ian didn't answer her question but his expression was turning hurt and bitter. It took time before he pulled away. I'm sorry I'm frail.

It wasn't exactly his thoughts but it was the closest thing to them that he could put into words.

You wouldn't care. you don't have to think about it. Ian snapped at her despite trying not to. I won't be the one standing at your grave for ..uh.. what? decades? centuries?

Ian was having a panic attack about his mortality and Ja'nee's apparent lack of it.

I do care, and I can die, Ian. I can't pretend that I know how long I'll live. It could be seconds or it could be centuries. That was never explained to me fully.

I think about this a lot more than you believe.

Ian shook his head. You don't understand mortality either.

She got a dark look for a moment, thinking of people she'd already lost. These were people she hadn't told Ian about yet.

Right. I don't want to argue.

Ian stared at her. No, of course you don't want to talk about.

Ian walked away.

Ian stopped and looked at her. All he could think of was what he had been told by the doctors and then the words of her mother. It made him feel sick.

If my leg doesn't start healing you should cancel the wedding plans. Ian looked down at the cane and his brace. The universe is reminding me time isn't something I have much of anymore.

I'll know if the surgery is helping in a couple weeks. All I can think about is dying and...your mother telling me my mortality would break your heart.

...I know about your leg. I know that you're dying and that it might not heal. I know that... time is limited, Ian.

Every day that crosses through my mind, but I can't be without you. If your leg doesn't start healing I want to move the plans up, and not cancel them. You are absolutely everything to me, and if I can't be with you there is no point.

I have an idea. I know. Ian looked at her his words clear and strong. Do you have an idea what that means to me? Everyday I know dying means your life here has no point. Something that is happening to me that I can't do anything about is making all your struggle here meaningless.

Ian was out of words for a time. I don't want to make it more meaningless by making you a widow right after you get married.

Not completely meaningless. You're giving me something I never had before. Don't push me away, please. Don't tell me to leave when we've still got time together. I don't care how little it is.

When we first met, you told me that your relationships don't last very long. I still jumped into this, constantly afraid that you were going to leave me. Then, it grew into something where I didn't care anymore. To where I wanted to be with you. I know nothing is promised to me. To you. I know... I don't care. If I'm going to be a widow- I can't know what I'll do. Please don't give up on this. I won't give up.

This won't be meaningless, whatever happens.

I'm not going to leave. ian walked back over to her.

I do care if I widow the only woman I trust before she deserves to be.

Ian gave her a hug he was panicking about dying again. He sometimes wished the doctors wouldn't speculate about his life expectancy.

She hugged him tightly, and tried not to get too sad over what Ian was saying.
