Much deserved fun

Instead of popping up in Julian's place uninvited, Janie knocked on his door a few minutes after she got the last note from him.

She knocked, and waited for him to get to the door.

Julian wasn't really surprised by the knocking, only by its promptness.
Just a few moments passed until he opened the door, a warm pullover in his hand and a smile on his face.

"Hi. That was fast."


ooc: Just so you know, I'll probably answer very slowly because I'm going on holidays on Friday myself. Tagging depends on whether I can find an open wireless network. ;)

"I didn't want to keep you waiting." she smiled back "So, you're all ready?"

"I'm ready to go", he answered, grinning. "What do I have to do?"

"Where do you want to go?" she asked first. She'd fretted for a moment before she got to Julians, before deciding to travel using the machine she built. "I um. We're taking my boat. We don't have to, but it's more comfortable that way."

"I'd really like to see Norway. If you want to?" He showed his pullover, no one could say he went onto such a trip unprepared.

"And you may laugh now, but until now I thought you had just an ordinary boat."

"Norway? Sure. I've never been" She led him to the boat, glad she had a sweater inside.

"I probably should have picked something more fun or practical than a boat. I built it so I could take people places without using a teleport or my natural ability."

Julian followed, glad that he lived rather close to the water. How convenient!

"Might be a bit impractical, yes, but I think a boat is great. So it has an integrated teleport?"

"Yes, I included that, and I also played around with space inside of it, so the boat is a lot larger inside than outside."

She seemed really excited to go somewhere with it.

"Huh. I suppose I shouldn't ask how that is possible ..."

He eyed the boat from outside. "Will we see anything, or will it just pop up at its destination?"

"It shouldn't be, but I bent space, which I shouldn't be able to do." she seemed to shrug it off. "It'll just kind of get us there in a flash, unless you want to sightsee. I can set it to go slower."

"Ah." He accepted the explanation, not that it would have made anything clearer.

"Maybe on our way back. I just thought we could ... hm. See it speeding across half the world."

"And we can." Janie grinned "I'll pour you a drink and we can watch everything go really quickly. Whatever you want to do, we'll do it"

"Now that sounds really, really good. Alright, let's do that!"

He grinned right back, full of anticipation.

She climbed onto the boat, and waited for Julian before going inside.

There were two floors on the inside, and one was high, and had windows where they could watch things speed by.

Julian followed quickly. Even though Janie had said the boat was bigger inside, actually seeing it was oddly confusing. He walked over to one of the windows, trying to make sense of what he saw.

"I- It's too much, isn't it?" she asked, worried that she'd scared him off. "Lynn told me it was a dumb idea. I'm sorry... we can travel another way if you'd like."

She anxiously waited for some kind of response from her friend.

Julian turned, surprised by Janie's reaction.

"No ... no, it's fine, really, don't worry. It's just a bit overwhelming, since I've never seen anything like this. But I'd love to travel with this boat." He added a reassuring smile.

"Really? Oh good. I don't have many friends and losing one over something so silly would be terrible."

Janie headed over to the console, which was the steering wheel, keyboard and a flat screen. It all looked surprisingly simple.

"Norrin flew me through space on his board. That was weird, weird and wonderful, and we're still friends. So ... really, don't worry."

He followed to see what Janie was doing, occasionally looking out of a window to see if something changed outside.


ooc: Does the boat have a name, btw? I might have started working on a tiny pic while on holidays, but it still lacks some detail. ;)

"He did? Wow, that must have been amazing!" She'd never been through space in an open craft before, and thought that it seemed really exciting.

She typed in a series of coordinates on the keyboard, then turned the steering wheel until the flat screen turned on, and the scenery outside started to fly by.

"We're on our way!"

ooc: Welcome back! I hope you had a nice Holiday. The name of the boat is 'The Rift Raft', and I'm squeeing over possible art :D

"It was awesome. More than that. Didn't see much of the flight itself, as we were there in an instant, but it was amazing nevertheless. He showed me Mars ... and the Sun. Beautiful Sun."

He smiled, remembering, then turned his attention back to this new and no less amazing journey and stepped closer to the window, instantly glued to it.

"Wow."


ooc: Thank you, it was great, just too short, as always. :) Ah right, I think Janie said the name before. Cool, thanks. I want to put some color onto that pic and tweak it a bit before posting. I guess it'll take a while. :)

"Mars and the Sun? It must have been nice to see it." After glancing at the console once more, she poured a drink for Julian.

"I've never actually watched things zip by like this. Wow is right."

ooc: Good! I'm glad you had a good time, and I don't remember if she's said it before or not, she's so secretive I always assume that she hasn't told. I'll be patient and probably forget about the picture, lol

"Oh yes, it was incredible ... oh, thanks! You're spoiling me." He took the drink with a broad smile before looking outside again.

"Really, never? I think I could watch for hours. I wonder what it looks like from the outside ... can anybody see us zipping by?"


ooc: Thanks. :) I'd love to work on the pic right away, but, alas. So many things to do and work starts again tomorrow. :(

"I enjoy spoiling my friends." She grinned.

"I usually go to where I need to go and that's it. No one can see us because we're actually in a parallel plane... Um, somewhat like glass that you can see out of and no one can see it?"

"Obviously. I'll return the favor when you can join me for a drink again."

He thought about her explanation and nodded. "And what if our destination were land-based? Would people see this boat popping up there?"
